About Allison Rooney
Allison Rooney, MOT, OTR/L, is a New York and New Jersey state licensed and nationally certified occupational therapist. She received her Bachelor’s Degree at Fairfield University and her Master’s Degree at Samuel Merritt University. Allison is located in Tappan, NY, and provides direct and consultative school-based, as well as home-based, services to children in Rockland and Westchester Counties and Northern New Jersey.
Allison has extensive experience treating children with decreased motor coordination, sensory processing disorder, and developmental delays. She has also provided comprehensive evaluations and therapeutic services to children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder, Sensory Processing Disorder, Cerebral Palsy, and Attention Deficit Disorder. Additionally, Allison is trained in Handwriting Without Tears, The Therapressure Protocol (Wilbarger Brushing Protocol), The Alert Program, and The Zones of Regulation, and has completed a variety of continuing education courses with a focus on handwriting and sensory processing disorders.
Therapy sessions aim to help children acquire skills necessary for increased functional independence with play, learning, and activities of daily living. Occupational therapy services are offered through a play-based approach, with the belief that through play, children can learn and grow.
